Think the sham superintendent search is about over? Three votes for Frances Haithcock — Chairman Joe White, George Dunlap, and Vilma Leake — are doing what they do best, traveling on the public dime, to Chicago instead of sticking around for more candidate interviews. Oh, sure the public can waste its time talking to the candidates now, but there are out-of-town conferences to attend for the folks making the decision.

In any event, here are a few questions for the candidate(s) to ignore:

– Given that the public overwhelmingly rejected a $427 million bond package last November, what size bond package do you now support?

By what date will you give control of discipline to high school principals rather than Ralph Taylor?

What percentage of non-teaching Ed Center staff will you be letting go?

How soon can we expect the food service and transportation functions of CMS to be out-sourced, as suggested by the CMS Task Force Report?

Which do you plan to do: Repeal CMS Regulation JHBB-R Part 2, #8 mandating a maximum of 10 class absences for HS graduation or end all fradulent “recovery” efforts?

When will you require all rising 9th graders to perform at a 9th grade level or repeat the 8th grade?

How many sub-districts of CMS do you envision: 3, 4, or 5?

How many more charter schools do you suggest for Mecklenburg County?

When will CMS beging working with CPCC with to get students so inclined to obtain their GEDs as non-CMS students?

That about covers it. Not that we’ll get answers or anything. But it is fun to play along.
