I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge that the N&R unveiled American Express as the double super-secret company looking for incentives from Greensboro and Guilford County to locate a data center. Guilford County Commissioner Kirk Perkins said just wanted to ‘holler it out’ —now we know.
The N&R reports that “economic recruiters and elected officials remained guarded Friday about discussing the specifics of the new project.” It’s the same old story —- company plays one local government off another looking for the better deal, while said local governments talk about the pain they’re about to spread among citizens. At least spare us the intrigue.
