The American Board Certification for Teacher Excellence (ABCTE) released their long-awaited report showing that teachers who pass the rigorous ABCTE tests produce higher student learning gains in math, science and social studies than teachers who failed the tests. Unlike the Praxis tests, the ABCTE tests separate the wheat from the chaff.

ABCTE is an organization that provides an alternative certification program for those without state credentials. ABCTE President David Saba is attempting to get NC State Board of Education approval. One would hope that the teacher shortage would prompt state education officials to adopt ABCTE certification, but, at the moment, they prefer to stick with their dreadful alternative certification program.
