Pittsburgh International Airport is vastly underutilized ever since US Airways closed its hub there a decade ago. That has resulted in high cost as the airport struggles to mean debt payments. The airport’s solution? As the Economist reports, it’s to allow fracking under the airport’s runway and terminal. The deal will bring in a half billion dollars over the next 20 years.
