An article in the Sylva Herald celebrates development on the Tuckaseigee River as “building the economy.” I disagree. Heatlhy economies consist in production and trade. The development on the Tuckaseigee consists in a settlement with Duke Energy combined with extortionary federal requirements.
Let’s call up an analogy from chemistry. If you mix things around in a bowl, they are likely not to increase in volume unless they are integrating or producing hot air.
