Nelda Holder provided a synopsis of new dates on the state legislative calendar for the Mountain Xpress:

The NCGA has added a fourth short session, scheduled for November 28-30. The November meeting will handle technical corrections to the redistricting map. Another meeting has been set for the Appropriations Committee November 16. Representatives do not know why. According to Representative Ray Rapp:

This is the General Assembly session that never ends, and it is disruptive to the personal, professional and local legislative schedules of the members.

The study group created by HB 925 will meet in January. The group was formed to determine if Asheville’s water system should continue to be used to keep the city’s bond rating up, or whether it should be given to the Metropolitan Sewerage District, or converted into a utility modeled after the MSD.
