A group of women in Cary have stepped up to set an example of the power of the individual.
“We’re teaching women of all economic levels that you can be philanthropic,” said co-founder Sheila Ogle. “You don’t have to be rich to give back to your community.”
About 40 women have joined the new group. Each member – men are allowed, but none have joined – gives $600 annually for at least three years, practically all of which is sent to local charities, Ogle said.
It makes you stop and think about the impact each of us can have when we decide to act, rather than wait for government.
