One of my New Year’s resolutions is to illustrate that not every societal problem or challenge requires a government solution, as way too many believe. To that end, I will share examples of good works and deeds by individuals, community groups, and churches. Their activities and contributions may seem small when taken one by one, but when added together, they illustrate that we can address needs without government intervention, thus leaving government to supply core services we can’t address as individuals.

Today’s example comes from Duke’s School of Nursing, where generous people helped out seven nonprofit groups.
