Organizing for America continues to send me emails with no content. Republicans have been identifying flaws in the bill. Democrats tell us the bill will save lives but don’t explain how. Historically, nationalized healthcare has experienced limited success in “homogeneous” countries where everybody has about the same risks and everybody contributes about the same amount. People who have lived with it don’t want it.

I was talking with an elderly couple in Hendersonville today. The lady was telling me how her church sent lots of missionaries to Pakistan. She said it would be a nice idea to keep some of them stateside. Her husband then muttered they needed to send them to Capitol Hill. The lady related that she came from a country with socialized medicine and told me I did not want it. It was the beginning of a friendship.
