The Henderson County Commissioners approved giving $42,693 to the German-based plastic manufacturer Elkamet, and $55,776 to the local chocolatier Mona Lisa. Now, we can all dig the public good in developing our local sources of chocolate lest we get into an embargo situation with the Netherlands or Belgium – or Pennsylvania, for that matter. But plastic? Well, that will be used for car parts, and it only makes sense that tax dollars should be used to supply Government Motors, no?
