The fact that Democrats have a significant “Hate Bush” element of their party, without a corresponding “Hate Kerry” faction among Republicans, has freed GOP speakers at this week’s convention to openly criticize the Democratic presidential nominee. At the Democratic convention delegates and speakers were required to tamp down the anti-Bush rhetoric, lest the independent voters get turned off by the excessive anger.

It helps that the people criticizing Kerry this week have smiles on their faces.
