The fight against forced annexation in North Carolina drew activists to the Legislative Building in Raleigh Wednesday. John Locke Foundation President John Hood offered the opening remarks for a daylong rally, and his comments were reported on WRAL and News 14 Carolina Television, along with the Rocky Mount Telegram. JLF Legal and Regulatory Policy Analyst Daren Bakst also made his mark on the annexation front this week. He submitted a letter (pdf link) to Wilmington’s mayor outlining reasons for opposing the Monkey Junction annexation. N.C. Property Rights Watch also highlighted two of Bakst’s pieces connected to Wilmington’s annexation efforts. In related property-rights news, both the Chatham News and Chatham Record reported on Policy Analyst and Research Editor Jon Sanders‘ recent presentation in opposition to Chatham County’s proposed land-use restrictions.
