Squall Lines’ Chad Adams picks up on the William Marshburn story, unsure if it’s “highlighting the horrendous state of mental health in our state or the mess that is forced annexation.”

For those unfamiliar, Marshburn was arrested outside the Tuesday’s Greensboro City Council meeting when he showed up to protest being annexed into the city. He raised a red flag (an understatement, I realize) on Monday when he issued phone threats to a senior planner, saying he was going to “shoot all the council members.” And it does happen.

Chad sees some dark humor in the story, and I had to laugh when I read the quote from Greensboro Police Lt. Brian James who, as many in Greensboro know, has had some issues of his own.

James said Marshburn will “be annexed into the city in June and hopefully we’ll have no more problems.” Key word being “hopefully,” because you have to wonder what Marshburn’s going to do when he starts getting the bills.
