Citizens under threat of a forced annexation by the town of Fletcher struck a victory last night when the Town Council voted 3 to 1 to give up their proposal to forcibly annex a group of property owners around the town limits. Interestingly, several years ago Fletcher incorporated to avoid being annexed by Asheville.

There was a vocal and organized effort by a group of property owners who did not want to be annexed against their will.  Maybe elected officials are finally starting to listen to citizens.
