A press release came out from the NC Senate boasting about giving a failing program an additional $5 million for corporate welfare.  I’m so glad I pay taxes so lawmakers can spend it this way – NOT!

Senate Passes Bill to Provide Additional $5 Million to JDIG
Raleigh, N.C. – The North Carolina Senate on Tuesday passed a bipartisan bill to replenish a key fund used by the state Department of Commerce to recruit businesses and jobs to North Carolina, after the department depleted its dollars early in the year.
Senate Bill 326, sponsored by Sens. Rick Gunn (R-Alamance), Wesley Meredith (R-Cumberland) and Tom Apodaca (R-Henderson), would provide an additional $5 million to the Job Development Investment Grants (JDIG) fund for the remainder of the year.
“Last week, Commerce Secretary John Skvarla asked the General Assembly to replenish the JDIG fund so his department could pursue three manufacturing prospects on a tight timeline,” said Gunn. “I appreciate my colleagues acting quickly so the administration can move to secure these jobs while the legislature works on a balanced and comprehensive economic development solution.”
