Have not had a chance to chase down all the very interesting questions these documents raise — but a couple things are already clear:

1) The sudden interest in the fate of CATS’ paratransit service in the event of repeal was the result of a carefully plotted PR strategy initiated by consultants hired by the pro-tax campaign, working in concert with Mecklenburg County DSS officials.

2) The pro-tax camp has targeted the elderly in the county as “propensity voters” who have been told — or will be shortly — that their transit options will be eliminated if they vote for repeal.

Better still, one of the first things the high-profile Vegas ad agency hired by the pro-tax camp does is call a meeting with county DSS officials at the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce (surprise!) and go over ways to scare the bejesus out of the old folks.

Classy. Real classy.

More to come.

Update: Ta-da! Seniors worry tax repeal would cut into services. The Uptown paper of record manipulated yet again into providing exactly the story that the pro-tax campaign and consultants desire. It has become downright comical at this point.
