Adding to the chorus of criticism of the union “card-check” proposal, misnamed the Employee Free Choice Act, the latest Fortune magazine includes this passage from former Massachusetts governor and Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney:

This legislation would do more to harm America’s competitiveness than almost anything I can imagine. Small and midsized businesses would become unionized. It would deaden entrepreneurship and throw a financial and legal anvil on the shoulders of our most fruitful job creators. It would kill jobs across the country.
