In a story on the Ohio inspector general investigation into why Helen Jones-Kelley, director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, approved checking the child-support computer system for information on “Joe the Plumber,” the Columbus Dispatch reports:
Amid questions from the media and others about “Joe the Plumber,” Jones-Kelley said she approved a check through the Support Enforcement Tracking System to determine whether he was current on any ordered child-support payments. She said the check was not politically motivated.
Oh, well, then, it must not be politically motivated, is the Dispatch‘s credulous response. Why, even the Democratic governor says there was no political hanky-panky going on. No need for any more questions.
But the Dispatch left out a key fact: Jones-Kelley is a maxed-out Obama campaign donor.
So, while the Dispatch was swallowing uncritically what was fed them by Ohio state government flacks, it took the blogosphere about 20 minutes to find this seemingly relevant record:
And the media wonder why their audience is fleeing in droves.
