The News and Observer/WRAL poll on the Wake County school construction bond has been released. The poll shows strong support for a bond of $625 million (64 percent), which would not raise taxes. The current $998 million plan did not receive much support (27 percent). The poll also found little support for impact fees (29 percent) or a one percent tax on real-estate sales (37 percent); a half-cent increase in the local sales tax (42 percent) was the most popular option.

These findings are consistent with the John Locke Foundation poll that found strong support (71 percent) for a $625 million bond that did not raise taxes and little support for a bond that raised taxes (32 percent).
