So I go up to the local used bookstore — which has become a Greensboro institution in its many years of operation—and on the front door I read:

Must have valid government-issued picture identification to sell merchandise.

I wasn’t selling –just buying —but I still asked the hippie dude behind the counter —he said half-jokingly it’s another way for the government to keep track of us —-but he still deferred to another employee, who said she thought used bookstores who pay cash are under the same rules as pawn shops, who require identification in an effort to curb the sale of stolen items.

Yet another of the million and one transactions in life that require ID, yet heaven —or or at least Eric Holder — forbid one of them should be voting.

Update: Yet another show your ID moment: Get your popcorn!
