On page 10 of the Carolina Journal?s 2006 December issue, a Charlotte family of a special ed. student told of their exasperating journey working with the Mecklenburg School System. Their case is still in court.
Today’s Observer article told of another family?s experience. Amazingly the CMS system acknowledges its failure, but is appealing decision because the possibility of other lawsuits against the system exists. This action is a great example of how the system believes it IS more important than the child.
If the General Assembly passed House Bill 388 ? Tax Credits for Children with Special Needs ? families would have options of educational providers, rather than going to the courthouse to be heard.
