Among new opinions the N.C. Court of Appeals has released this morning:

  • A unanimous three-judge panel reversed a Cumberland County trial court and blocked the proposed TigerSwan firearms training facility on 1,000 acres of Cumberland County property. Neighbors had complained that the facility was not permitted in an agricultural district under county zoning rules.
  • A unanimous three-judge panel affirmed a lower-court ruling from Forsyth County allowing the University of Virginia to use its sovereign immunity to block a lawsuit linked to a dispute over X-ray film.
  • A unanimous three-judge panel ruled that an incomplete court transcript should allow a man convicted on a drug charge in Buncombe County to get a new hearing on whether he’s a habitual felon.
  • Two unanimous three-judge panels affirmed N.C. Property Tax Commission rulings in tax value disputes involving land in Halifax and Sampson counties.
