Kent Misegades gave me permission to post his letter to BC/BS president Brad Wilson.  Since BC/BS supported Obamacare, Kent wants to  know when he will receive his $2500 rebate on his policy.

Subj.: Impact of Health Care Reform on my BCBSNC
Policy

Dear
Mr. Wilson:

I read with interest in the
Triangle Business Journal of your endorsement of the just-passed federal Health
Care Reform bill, and like most Americans, I am concerned how this will impact
my BCBSNC medical insurance policy.

In 2007 I retired as CEO of
an Apex, NC based engineering company to begin a new career as an aviation
photojournalist. I was pleased with the variety of plans offered by your
company, and chose a high deductible ($10,000/year) one that covers my wife,
our 21-year-old son and me.  All
three of us had pre-existing conditions upon application, which raised the
premium somewhat; however I found this only fair given the somewhat higher
costs that we would likely cause compared to others in perfect health.

We do enjoy good health,
and work hard to maintain this through a responsible, healthy lifestyle. I am
very pleased with our BCBSNC plan, and find the monthly premium of $395.86 a
good value.  As any small
businessman, especially in the current economy, I am watching my budget more
than ever. For this reason, keeping my medical insurance premiums as low as
possible, and as predictable as possible, is critical to the growth of my
business.

On many instances in the
past year, our President, in his promotion of the reform just passed by
Congress, has assured us that we can expect, on average, a $2500 reduction in
our annual medical insurance payments. This is terrific news, as it would imply that my monthly payments will
drop to under $200/month.  I would
like to know when I can expect to see this reduction in my monthly premiums
from BCBSNC.

Since he has been a strong
supporter of health care reform, I am copying here my Representative in
Congress, Mr. David Price.

Sincerely,

Kent Misegades

President
