Yes they are, according to the owner of Chandler’s Towing, whose business will be forced to reduce its towing charges in Carrboro if the Aldermen have their way at tonight’s meeting. The disagreement stems from towing of vehicles that don’t have a required parking sticker from the lot of a condominium development.

It appears the condominium management company already is caving to pressure, and now the focus is on the towing company’s charges, which the Aldermen seem to think are too high. In the Chapel Hill News, towing company owner Brad Chandler hits the nail on the head about why some politicians and bureaucrats don’t think twice about imposing regulations that negatively impact the livelihoods of other people:

“We can’t work for free,” he said. “They’re not in the towing business. That’s why they want to charge that.”

Bingo.
