Leave it to Bruce over at Gay Patriot to cut to the chase on Eric Holder’s offensive “race coward” crap. Bruce phoned up Sen. Kay Hagan’ office — Hagan voted to confirm Holder to the office of Attorney General — to ask if the Senator thought Bruce was a race coward. Hilarity, as they say, ensued:
The poor dude who answered the phone sputtered, then said he “figured she would not agree with Holder’s statement”. But then put me on hold and after about 3 minutes came back with: “Let me take your address so we can send you a response to Holder’s nomination since Sen. Hagan still has to answer a lot of letters about the subject.”
I bet. Here’s another question I guarantee Southern liberals will duck, Show me the racists? Who are the racists? They are evidently everywhere, so point them out and name so we all can know. See, because the term “racist” has no real meaning anymore, here comes the “race coward” standard. It means that even though you, gentle white suburbanite, are not a racist nor are your friends, you still are afraid to talk about race in substantive, progressive ways. Hence you require the state and federal government to help you deal with matters of race so that we might have a society which we all can take pride in.
Unless more folks — black, white, green or blue — man-up like Bruce and call BS on Holder’s formulation it will poison civic discourse for years to come.
Bonus Observation: How’s that PATRIOT Act hanging pseudo-cons? Wire-tapping, bank-record snooping, and water-boarding in search of “race cowards” not exactly part of the plan, huh?
