The State of North Carolina is administering a survey. It asks about 20 questions that go something like, now that you have outdoor recreation needs and want us to give you more, which of the three things that we want you to support do you feel is most important? And, now that we have established that you think this is important, for which of the following budget-expanding strategies shall we tell the authorities you are clamoring? If you can find a way to tell the government to get out of the parks and recreation business, downsize, or quit pulling land out of the private sector; your write-in comments will likely be weighted as trace, unless a mass of people use the same phrases. But they won’t, because those who resist large government don’t like being told what to do.
