Here’s the Associated Press description of the General Assembly’s last work day for this opening week:

The House and Senate raced through their
respective 10 a.m. floor sessions. They adjourned for the weekend
within a half-hour. The House had one order of business ? the passage
of a resolution remembering a 1771 battle between the colonial governor
and farmers in Alamance County.

Legislative action could get a little more interesting next week. For one thing, the House Select Committee on Municipal Annexation is scheduled to finalize its proposal for a one-year moratorium on involuntary annexations.

Here’s Daren Bakst’s take on the topic.
