Finally!
Two Gaston County men are charged with first-degree murder in the case of Irina Yarmolenko. Mark Bradley Carver and Neal Leon Cassada Jr. also face felony conspiracy charges.
A press conference on the arrests should start soon. More to come….
Update: The Gaston Gazette adds that the two men are cousins and that neither has a criminal conviction on their records. Both have been arrested for gun offenses in the past, however. The warrants that were issued on both men yesterday do not supply any hint of what evidence led police to them. They are being held in the Gaston County jail without bond.
I am guessing we get a statement from the Yarmolenko family at some point, perhaps over the weekend. I would also expect something out of UNCC’s administration on the arrest.
Let’s hope Mt. Holly police have this one right. It has been a long seven months.
