Panthers WR Steve Smith will evidently miss a couple weeks with a badly bruised shoulder, which to me sounds like he doesn’t see contact until the regular season starts.
That’ll play havoc with getting Jake Delhomme into a comfort zone ahead of the season, but the Panthers simply cannot afford to Smith on the shelf when the games actually matter. The sliver of a silver lining is that the Panthers now have a couple weeks to look at rookie RB Mike Goodson as a slot threat, a guy who might provide the kind of explosive burst that Smith has produced all these years.
