Last week we were able to tie the tail end of the Impact Report to wolverines.  This week, we’re not so lucky.  Responding to a misunderstanding of why East Carolina University should decline to build a new dental school in last week’s SPIN cycle, Shannon Blosser notes that the market for dentists in the state is small; and, even if one thought that opening the new school would bring more dentists to the state, there is no guarantee that any one graduate would stay. In short, creating a new school to compete with a well-established one won’t bring new students – it’ll just divide up the ones already interested.  This is unlike what the North Carolina History Project has done.  It’s new, flashy website is all the wow, already gaining respect from CSS Mania, a website that rates exceptionally built websites. So the new site gets at least one unique visitor.  Troy’s celebrating.
