As If These Folks Aren’t Powerful Enough Already

The UNC System is among the most powerful — if not THE most powerful — lobby in North Carolina. The System always gets what it wants, no matter the state’s financial situation. That’s why this News & Observer Under the Dome blurb caught my eye.

Based on her resume, UNC’s new lobbyist will no doubt cement an even cozier position for the System with the people who really run North Carolina politics and policy. Scroll down to the final blurb to read about Anita Watkins’ connections to Sen. Marc Basnight, the N.C. League of Municipalities, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

I’d say Erskine Bowles has very few worries. For us taxpayers, that’s another story.
