In the latest episode of our drama, the good hospital MedWest has acquired its seventeenth partner practice, a “multi-specialty” outfit of a dozen physicians. According to Steve Heatherly, CEO of the MedWest Physician Network:
The highest form of integration in health care is when local physicians and local hospitals partner to expand access, improve quality and provide an excellent patient experience.
Remember, special legislation is needed to stop the smaller (a.k.a. evil) Mission Hospitals from acquiring practices. Stay tuned.
