It may be getting difficult to trust folks in Asheville. Recently, the public learned a substantial amount of criminal evidence was missing from the police department’s evidence room. The powers that be felt that could be straightened out by sacrificing a scapegoat, who was the police chief. Now that he is gone, the founder of a drug rehab clinic is under investigation for abusive tax filing, funky inventories for gun buybacks, and ties to a murder. Not too long ago, the Buncombe County sheriff was put away for involvement in a gambling ring. He said the county’s missing guns were used as rebar in the new prison.
Again, I hate to call attention to names because really tricky criminals know how to make somebody else look bad. Regardless, there is a lot of gun laundering going down in Asheville.
