It had to happen. It was inevitable. As soon as it became clear that the North Carolina Motor Speedway in Rockingham would be acquired and its NASCAR race moved elsewhere, the punning must begin:

“Racing schedule puts ‘Rock’ in a hard place”

The good news it that, assuming the politicians in Raleigh follow through, North Carolina taxpayers will spend upwards of $50 million to build NASCAR teams a practice track near Charlotte so they can try out all their new cars and devices before the big races out west. No spectators allowed at the test track, of course.

Wait, that’s not good news.
