That’s how Sen. David Hoyle, D-Gaston, described today North Carolina voters’ response to proposed local land-transfer tax increases.

Since November 2007, voters in 19 counties have rejected the idea. No voters have approved it.

Hoyle is sponsoring Senate Bill 1951 to repeal the local option to seek land-transfer tax hikes. The Senate Finance Committee endorsed that idea this afternoon.

John Hood made the case against the land-transfer tax (and local-option sales tax increases) after voters overwhelmingly rejected the tax hikes last month.
