The Buncombe County Commissioners met simultaneously with Asheville City Council, but in different places last night. The commissioners discussed what to do with a piece of property that was purchased in a special meeting in order to woo Deschutes Brewery to locate in the county. The parcel was before involved in the Water Disagreement, and unloading it from Henderson County at least resolved one piece of the puzzle. Fortunately, Deschutes decided to go to Roanoake, so the county is left wondering what to do with the land. Not surprisingly, one idea is to retain it as a future economic development incentive. Commissioner Miranda DeBruhl advocated selling it outright to postpone any need for a tax increase. Its estimated value is $7 million.
