A company called Discount-Mats.com has a problem. Seems a GI serving in Iraq emailed an inquiry to the online mat retailer asking if they delivered to APOs (military postal addresses). His was a pretty straightforward request. What he got back was not:

We do not ship to APO addresses,
and even if we did, we would NEVER ship to Iraq. If you were sensible,
you and your troops would pull out of Iraq.

Bargain Suppliers
Discount-Mats.com

Upon first hearing about this I was going to advise the Boy Scout troop my sons were members of to be sure not to buy any camping mats from these people. Then I heard that they had fired the person who sent the above response.  But it cost them. Army Sgt. Jason Hess says that after getting the snarky reply from Discount-Mats.com he found two other suppliers willing to ship to APOs. And without any anti-military diatribes.

UPDATE: It looks as if there is a Web site called DiscountMats.com that may be a different company than the Discount-Mats.com above.  Discount-Mats.com is having technical difficulties, probably from all the traffic this story has prompted, while DiscountMats.com is online.

UPDATE 2: Just heard on Rush that Discount-Mats.com is owned by one Faisal Khetani, a Muslim from Pakistan who lives in West Allis, Wisc. I just checked and Dicountmats.com is a Web site that was originally registered to someone in Clayfield, Queensland, Australia. No name of an owner given. It seems to now be registered to a company in Brisbane. So DiscountMats.com seems to be unconnected with Khetani’s outfit.

UPDATE3: Here’s Hot Air’s link to Fox News’ video. Fox broke the story. Also, the Fox reporter said Khetani was American-born but of Pakistani descent.
