My colleague Daren Bakst has an excellent article posted on the Carolina Journal site succinctly explaining why wind power is not all that it’s cracked up to be by the Reublicrats in the NC legislature who have foisted this super expensive and environmentally unfriendly source of energy on the utility customers of North Carolina. As Bakst notes “The problem, unfortunately, is wind power doesn’t meet either criteria. It has inherent, unavoidable problems. The wind doesn’t blow all the time. Even when the wind does blow, its speed is often too slow or too fast. This means wind power must be backed up by conventional electricity sources, such as natural gas. No amount of subsidies will solve these inherent flaws.” It is a short read but it tells the story quite well.
