Apparently the Biz Journal beat the Winston-Salem Journal on Lindbrook Development Services’ pullout from a proposed office project next the taxpayer-financed BB&T Stadium. Mayor Allen Joines said he was “hopeful that the project will move forward as part of the Phase 2 element of the ballpark campus.”
Remember Dash owner Billy Prim sold the ballpark to taxpayers as a mixed-use development that would anchor the downtown’s west side. Then the economy went south, and with it demand for office space. An anchor was also problematic, and the irony there is —according to the Journal—– Prim was considering moving his Primo Water Corp. to the new building, but the company “might not be in a financial position to make an operational move,” considering it “has not posted a fiscal-year profit since being founded in 2004.”
The Dash was also slated to move its headquarters into the building, but that’s obviously in limbo. Development stalled around Greensboro’s New Bridge Bank Park, but a 200-unit ‘high-end’ apartment complex is going up as I sit here typing.
