The Rhino’s John Hammer writes “the battle lines are clearly drawn” on the Greensboro City Council, with council members Mike Barber and Robbie Perkins manning the front:

If Barber says hot, Perkins is going to say cold. If Barber says red, Perkins is going to say blue. What is interesting is Perkins is always on the defensive. Barber is trying to get the council to take some action and Perkins is in favor of doing what the old council did, which is nothing except attend meetings and vote unanimously for whatever the staff proposes.

As I’ve said before, Perkins, if nothing else, is an asset on the council because he and Barber are the two guys who seem to truly grasp the issues. Without them, the council, with Mayor Yvonne Johnson in charge, would be totally lost. It’s just too bad Perkins doesn’t leverage that asset and work with Barber so the council can get something done.
