At least locally. And probably for control of Congress, as well.
Right now, just about any combination is possible out of the Mecklenburg County Commission at-large race.
And Jim Black is barely ahead of Hal Jordan in his 2-to-1 Democratic district.
And that 35 percent turnout? Maybe a struggle to reach it. As always, the late arriving precincts will decide much in a close election.
Update: Looks like the Black-Jordan race is headed for a recount. The Meck BOE is listing it a 5088-5051 lead for Jordan with 100 percent of precincts reporting.
The Mecklenburg County Commission at-large race remains insanely close with 96 percent of the vote in. The breakdown:
Parks Helms (DEM)………………… 64565 16%
Wilhelmenia Rembert (DEM)………………… 63402 16%
Jennifer Roberts (DEM)………………… 67968 17%
Kaye McGarry (REP)………………… 65777 17%
Jim Puckett (REP)………………… 65117 17%
Dan Ramirez (REP)………………… 65980 17%
That gives the GOP two of the three seats, but stay tuned.
Update: Sure, enough, Park Helms has edged ahead of Kaye McGarry by 400 votes. Still not final.
