I’ve been playing Freedom Works University videos in the background today. Honestly, I didn’t like the first three in the Economics 101 series, as they assumed more than I was willing to. For example, the greed and intentionality mistaken for human nature are nowhere to be found in the crowd with which I hang, and I resented implications about the ability to predict mass human behavior. I would, however, recommend the videos from #4 on, and then the Economics 102 series, which features Peter Schiff, to anybody who thinks free marketeers are crazy. Basic concepts still widely refuted; e.g., why top-down, command-and-control economies suffer from lack of real-time data; and why middlemen necessarily impose inefficiencies, are explained.

The site I would recommend most for people trying to get a grip on the subject remains holisticpolitics.org. It is a collection of clever essays. In my formative years, I read every article and agreed with almost everything. In other words, I expect it will bring clarity to notions already floating around between the ears of folks who have avoided economics because college offerings were too verifiably false. The site has changed in the last fifteen or so years, so I cannot vouch for the material I have not yet read (e.g., the blog and the essays on religion). The average Joe should collect some valuable takeaways from the site, nonetheless.
