BB&T turned down an application made by the Town of Franklin for a loan. The town wanted to finance a new ABC store and repay the loan with revenues from the store’s sales.
Alderman Bob Scott said the bank’s decision backs up the sense of the “overwhelming majority of the public” that the loan was a bad idea.
