Oh my. The state will be starting a program soon to collar and release 40 bears in the Asheville area to track their movements, the first time such a study has been done in suburban or urban portions of the state. As the Asheville Citizen-Times reports, the number of bears in the state has rebounded in recent years, particularly along the coast. And some of those bears along the coast are really big, while the ones in the mountains are smaller.
