Now that she isn’t a candidate, I believe I will be breaking no election law by giving Fern Shubert an endorsement. Shubert lost the race for a state senate seat out Mecklenberg-ways. I met Shubert at a FreedomWorks gathering about six years ago. I was impressed that she would forgo wining and dining to hole up in her motel room and study bills. I was impressed she was able decode superficially innocuous language to display special earmarks.

I invited her to Asheville to participate in a tripartisan Constitutional forum at UNCA. Afterward, she privately told me she wished the people with whom she was serving were more like then Libertarian Presidential Candidate Michael Badnarik, who also participated in the forum, because he knew what was in the Constitution.

Shubert had one of the least wishy-washy web sites of any candidate. It linked to the her website from when she ran as governor. Her positions haven’t changed. I invite you to enjoy what may well be music to your ears.
