This story makes me cringe.

A month ago, Wake County Commissioner Lindy Brown said she couldn’t support buying 80 acres north of Raleigh for a new high school because residents were demanding her to be accountable for taxpayers’ money.

But on Wednesday, Brown said she now supports the deal, potentially flipping what was a 4-3 vote not to make the purchase. Citing new information from the Wake County school system, Brown says it would be financially irresponsible now to not buy the land as a site for a high school to serve northeastern Wake.

You see, this land requires $2 million worth of rock removal. What is Lindy Brown’s reasoning? “That entire part of the county is rocky, and we’re not going to be able do anything about it. I didn’t have that information before.” No, Wake County Schools staff did not feed you that “information” before.
