From Senate President Pro Tem Phil Berger’s office:

Berger: Governor, sign this budget

Raleigh, N.C. – Senate President Pro Tempore Phil Berger (R-Rockingham) released a video Friday urging Gov. Beverly Perdue to sign the $19.7 billion bipartisan budget. Below is the transcript:

“The legislature recently passed a $19.7 billion bipartisan budget that reforms education, reduces taxes and cuts spending.

“To hear Gov. Perdue talk, you would think the sky was falling.

“Governor, you said you wanted full funding for teachers and teachers’ assistants. In this budget, you’ve got that. In fact, our budget spends more money on K-12 education than your proposal.

“You said you wanted to work with us; meet us halfway. We’re there, Governor. Where are you?

“You said North Carolinians could trust that the temporary taxes you placed on them would expire. We’re keeping your promise with this budget.

“Governor, sign this budget. Do the right thing.”
