How about curbing and storm drains in the, oh, gazillion spots along city roads that washed out last night?
Pedestrian bridges across some of our busy multi-lanes? I’m partial to one over 485 at Weddington Rd. but I’m sure there are a couple dozen spots around Charlotte which could see an immediate improvement in safety and mobility, the hallmarks of effective transportation policy, were $12m. spent on such crossings.
And note that I’m playing along with the fiction that these General Fund dollars — dollars which entered city coffers as completely unrestricted funds — can only be used for certain capital expenditures akin to a frickin’ streetcar.
