I just got to the Wake County Board of Education meeting in Raleigh, where members are expected to discuss the Jim Black fine settlement controversy.

In the meantime, rumors that board member Beverly Clark would resign are true. She just tendered her resignation a few minutes ago, effective Aug. 12.

With so many openings on the board of ed, the field of candidates has become crowded. Opponents of the current system of diversity busing hope the openings will present an opportunity to change the school system’s direction.
