And now for some comic relief, courtesy of TIME‘s Joe Klein, who assigns one of his annual Teddy awards for political courage to the man who sits a heartbeat away from the presidency.

Vice President Joe Biden deserves a Teddy for having been right about Afghanistan all along–arguing that our purposes there should be limited to covert operations and training the Afghan army–and also for being the solid, sane voice of reason that he is. He is one of our most underappreciated public servants.

Perhaps Democrats ought to embrace this “sane voice of reason” and do more to promote his wit and wisdom during the 2012 campaign.
